Leather Buff for polishing and Cleaning, Width 6 mm Tool

We mount flat leather onto this narrow wooden stick for cleaning and polishing work at the bench. The 6 mm working width allows access between bridges and along small flat surfaces without encroaching on surrounding steelwork. It charges with fine compound or runs dry to lift light residue.

Narrow leather face

The 6 mm wide leather strip presents a flat, uniform surface against the work. It conforms slightly under pressure to track straight across plates, wheel rims, and small levers without rounding off sharp brass arrises.

Compound and dry use

Use the buff dry to clean away light oils and debris, or charge the grain with fine polishing paste for finishing. The leather pores retain abrasive paste evenly across the length of the working strip.

Rigid wooden support

The leather is fixed flat to a wooden core that keeps the face level during the stroke. The rigid spine lets you apply measured fingertip pressure directly along the narrow contact line without twisting in the hand.

Bench replacement routine

As the leather collects worn metal particulate and dry compound, pare the dirty face back with a clean bench knife to expose fresh grain, or discard the worn buff once the leather is worked through.
