We cast this block from synthetic rubber and abrasive powder to give the bench a direct way to work metal surfaces. It measures 80 by 50 by 20 mm and fits flat against the palm. A steady pass along a case flank or bracelet link leaves an even satin grain without needing loose compounds.
Rubber and abrasive matrix
We blend the abrasive powder through the synthetic rubber body. As the block wears down during use, fresh abrasive particles expose themselves continuously across the working face, keeping the cut consistent across the entire piece.
Block dimensions and grip
The block measures 80 by 50 by 20 mm. The rectangular profile gives you broad flat faces for long strokes on bracelet links, alongside narrower edges to guide down the flank of a watch case.
Surface finishing and cleaning
The compound cuts away light oxidation and rust while laying down a uniform satin texture. It works dry on the metal, removing the need to mix pastes or wash away greasy carrier oils after finishing.
Dressing the working face
When the rubber face clogs with metal debris or loses its flat profile, you can dress it back down with an abrasive sheet. Trimming a corner with a bench knife exposes a fresh profile for tighter recesses.
