Bench jobCleaning and finishing

Steel components arrive at the bench with surface oxidation that mechanical pegs and pith wood cannot clear. We compound catalogue number 30496 for immersion cleaning of steel movement parts. The solution dissolves rust spots without grinding away the sound metal underneath.

Immersion in the bath

Place the affected steel part into a small glass well with the fluid. A short soaking period dissolves surface rust without requiring aggressive abrasive dressing on delicate pivots or teeth.

Rinsing the treated part

Once lifted from the bath, rinse the piece thoroughly in clean water. This arrests the chemical action on the steel before you move the part to the drying stage.

Immediate drying

Dry the steel component directly after rinsing. Use clean warm air, pith wood, or drying paper so moisture does not settle back onto the bare surface.

Jar storage

Keep the container closed tight at the bench when not pouring a bath. Store the preparation away from bright bench lamps to maintain its chemical strength over time.
